Falling in Love with the Shigu- At this stage, participants will get to “meet” the Chinese Shigu drum and be introduced to basic knowledge of the 24 festive drums culture and more.
24 Festive Drums for 6-12 years old
(10 Weeks Course – 90mins per week)
Exploring the Possibilities between You and Drumming- After experiencing the basics, it is time to explore more beats and rhythms with the drum.
Guzheng
12 weeks Course (90mins per week)
Learn the History and Structure of Guzheng, string setting and recognition, hand shape, basic technique “wiping”, “draw”, “support”, “draw” and more.
Er Hu
8 weeks Course (1hr per week)
Learn to play through Bowing Exercise, String Changing Practice, Little Finger Exercise and more.
Handpan
8 weeks Course (90mins per week)
Learn the basic operation of the Handpan, Basic Finger Touch, Playing Skills and more.
Mak Yong
5 weeks Course (Weekly 2 sessions x 4hr per session)
Mak Yong is a traditional Malay theatre performance from Kelantan and Patani. The performance combines elements of drama, dance, vocals and instrumental music, songs, stories and formal conversational texts.
Mek Mulung
5 weeks Course (Weekly 2 sessions x 4hr per session)
Mek Mulung is a performance from old Malay culture where most of it is from folk tales and stories of the Gods. The performance uses the old Kedah language mixed with a little bit of Siamese plates (Omar Abdullah 1973).
