LEONG KAH MIU
Professional Drummer and Percussionist | Senior Drumming Coach
Kah Miu is a thinker, a quiet person. He started playing 24 Festive Drums at the age of 13. Joined Hands Percussion as a trainee at 17 and became a ‘HANDS 2’ team member a year after. He has been a full-timer since 2011, joining the ‘HANDS 1’ team. As the Program Coordinator for HANDS, Kah Miu coordinates snare drumming classes by Tan Su Yin (former Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (MPYO) Principal Percussionist) and Malay gendang classes by Mat Din Hussin (a well-known percussive player specialising in Kelantanese traditional musical instruments) for his team members. His 24 Festive Drums Troupe coaching skills are focused at SJKC Chen Moh (Petaling Jaya) and at Chung Hua High School, Seremban. In order to develop his musical skill he is currently learning the marimba from Tan Su Yin and actively participates in various art festivals such as the KAKISENI’s Arts Exchange KL in 2013.
