Mak Yong is a traditional Malay theatre performance from Kelantan and Patani.

The performance combines elements of drama, dance, vocals and instrumental music, songs, stories and formal conversational texts.

Mak Yong was once staged as a Royal staging under the auspices of the Kelantan Sultanate until the 1920s. Mak Yong was also recognized by UNESCO as one of the Masterpieces of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity from Malaysia in 2005.
